Hot Springs and Ryokan

Guess what, y'all. It's time for a field trip. We're heading to a Hot Springs and an Inn for the weekend, and everyone is invited. This place is huge, and has multiple springs both indoor and out. There's separate bathing, mixed, and even a spot for foreigners and prudes who like to keep their swimsuits on. Table tennis? Got it. Room service? You bet. Massages? Possibly. Ghosts? Maybe.

1. Hot springs: after you rinse off come take a relaxing bath. There are multiple options as to what kind of bathing environment you can have, so please choose wisely. Also, please read the signs. None of the springs will kill you, but if you choose the wrong one you might end up with some... adverse effects. Cursed springs might just be a Thing.

2. The Inn: you'll be here for a few nights so find your rooming buddy and get friendly. Whether bonding over food, games, or even just exploring the place there's certainly something you can find to occupy yourself. Just don't be too curious after curfew. The staff are pretty insistent, but they aren't cops so responsibility for your actions are your own.

[ Sasuke's a decent cook. He's no gourmet chef, but he did most of the cooking in the Takeda household and now for just him and Yukimura. So when he heard that the chef was ill, he decided that he could whip up something for everyone. It'd also give him the chance to hide away in this wrong body of his. Shouldn't it have worn off by now? Why is he still a girl?!

Instead he sees another redheaded teen had beaten him to it... someone way more qualified to make the meals, judging by the food already prepared.

Well, this guy doesn't know who Sasuke is, so maybe it'll be less awkward for him to stick around and do something to pass the time. Sasuke moves to stir a pot threatening to boil over. The proper thing would be to ask if the teen needed help, but Sasuke sounds like a girl too. It's just weird for him to hear it out of his own mouth. ]

[ Another day, another line of hungry customers.

"Emiya! Three sandwich specials," came another order from the waitress who clipped the slip of paper with the order on it with the rest that were pending. Looking up from the finishing touches on another round of hamburg steak, he flashes a brief glimpse at the order before nodding. ]

Roger!

[ Fresh spring greens, bacon... It's a familiar dish, but with a couple of varying takes on it. Still, it was simple to make. As he's handing up the plate for the hamburger, he catches someone out of the corner of his eye. ]

Eh? [ And there, stirring a pot that threatens to spill over, he pauses for a second or two, blinking. Where did they come from, anyways? Were they one of the assistants of this place? But he wouldn't reprimand them whatsoever. If anything, Shirou couldn't help but sigh as he mentally kicks himself. ] Jeez... That would have thrown a wrench into things.

[ Taking a minute's break to talk with Sasuke wouldn't be a detriment. ]

Thank you. If you want, you can lower the heat to medium now.

[ He jolts a little when he's addressed, but Sasuke doesn't know what else he expected. He's not invisible. The other guy was going to notice him. Well... it's not like they've met before, so this isn't going to be as weird as it could be. Sasuke just needs to get over hearing the wrong voice come out of him. ]

... Sure, I can do that.

[ Sasuke reaches over and changes the temperature, stirring all the while until the pot is no longer in danger of boiling over. The bubbly contents slow to a steady simmer. Only then does Sasuke remove the spoon and place it on the rest next to the pot. ]

Are you doing this all by yourself? You're even taking orders.

So far, yeah. Cooking for a whole diner instead of just a small group is different, but... It's not so bad, either.

[ He seemed to be enjoying himself, at least- taking it as a challenge. Great. Now with the lid off as it simmers, he'd check back on it in another few minutes! Once the sauce has reduced, he can test for taste. He seems pretty grateful for the girl's(?) assistance. ]

Well, I was until you came along. [ Not that he was insinuating that Sasuke was about to get roped into the work as well. He didn't even know what she was capable of. But, if she wanted to help? Who was he to stop her if she was a good listener? And maybe he'd wind up teaching her something along the way. ]

[ Laughing, Sasuke looks around for a spare apron and puts it on. ]

I guess I asked for it.

[ He says as if he hadn't been hoping that he'd recruit him into helping. The clipped paper says 3 sandwich specials. Sandwiches aren't hard as long as he knows what goes into them. It'd be a perfect way to divide the labor, but maybe the other redhead has another plan that would have a better workflow. ]

Where should I start, Master Chef?

[ Oh! They got to it before he could offer. Still, that just screamed productivity and awareness to him. ]

Ahh, Master Chef is a little much... [ But he gets what Sasuke means. And luckily they were rather simple to make. He could even instruct her while he was busy with something else if she needed! But, for reference material, he grabs the collective pile of laminated recipe sheets and pulls out the one for the sandwich special. He offers out the list for the sandwich with instructions. ] Here. Would you like to get started on the spread and sandwich sauce? I'll grab the spring greens for you.

[ Sasuke calls everyone by some nickname or another title. Only a few get called by their actual names. And hey. He's the chef. Sasuke's the sous chef in this arrangement. It works!

He takes the laminated recipe and looks it over. It's not what he thought a sandwich special would be. Though, Sasuke wouldn't be able to tell you what it should be either. Maybe some kind of combo meal? ]

This seems simple enough. I wouldn't have thought to use two different sauces in one sandwich like this.

[ While Master Chief Chef is gathering the greens, Sasuke will nab a few bowls and spatulas. ]

Hey, do these sauces keep well? Should I make extra for future orders?

[ They're not a hard mix, but if they suddenly get a lot of orders for them, it could save some time. They are at an inn housing a number of teenagers... and teenagers can eat a lot. Plus, has rush hour started or ended yet? ]

Sorry for the delay! And yes. This show is a treat.

One is more of a spread for the bread, but it creates a great combination in the end.

[ When Sasuke asks him about making extra, considering that it wouldn't hurt to save on any lost time (in case there were hiccups) for future orders, he simply nods in approval. ]

Yes, thank you. If refrigerated and covered, they'll keep for a couple of days.

[ The greens are kept in remarkable condition, he realizes. All they'd need to do after a rinse was boil them down a little bit. ]

No worries! Life has been busy for me as well

A few days? Then let's make things easier for the weekend.

[ It doesn't hurt to be prepared. Sasuke starts making the calculations for multiple batches of the spreads and sauces. He's not going to go overboard, but he's also making enough for at least 3 times the current orders. ]

Well, at least for lunches. I don't think sandwiches are gonna cut it for dinner and breakfast. Do you have plans for those too, Master Chef?

Shirou. You can call me Shirou.

[ Not that he minded the nickname the girl gave him. But it would be nice to get to know the person who was taking the time out of her vacation to help. Once the water starts boiling, he places the spring greens inside to soften down. ]

Whatever's on the menu, really. Baked salmon, traditional western bacon and eggs, [ Nothing too fancy/extra could be done about that, but hey. Breakfast was breakfast, right? ] it's all there. To be honest, I'm impressed by what they have for stock.

[ Sasuke doesn't seem to call anyone by their name, but maybe he'll change up the nickname/title he uses with this new information. And those other dishes are simple enough. If the actual chef doesn't recover by morning (or if the inn doesn't call another employee to cover), they'd be something he could help with too.

With a little luck, Sasuke hopes his body will return to normal by then. ]

I'm Sasuke Sarutobi from the late Basara Academy. I was part of the soccer club and the newspaper club when the school still stood.

[ Sasuke... Not a lot of girls with that name, if he was being honest. Still! It's nice to get to know the people at this place. Especially when some were familiar faces. But then he says something strange at the end of his remark. Come to think of it, "Late"...? ]

Still stood...? Did something happen that it got shut down?

[ He'd talk about his own hobbies and activities, but that kind of caught his attention. ]

[ He actually knows a few girls with masculine names, but that's completely different here. ]

More like actually destroyed. The headmaster and the headmaster of another school fought and reduced the place to rubble in the process. Headmaster Oda probably could have done it all by himself, but he was still interested in the place. He just hated us students for our frivolous teenage whims... or something like that.

Seriously———?!?

[ Shirou couldn't help but be mildly floored at such a story being so leisurely brought up. And over something like 'frivolous teenage whims'... He wondered, in his head, what kind of damage cost-wise the Church would have been looking at to clean that mess up. But more importantly, he has to ask, ]

Was anyone seriously hurt?

[ He's glad to see this girl seemed to make it out alright. But if there were any lives jeopardized... ]

[ Funny how a Xavist School was responsible for the destruction all while proclaiming they were spreading the message of love... from a flying warship. ]

I don't think so... I think even the headmaster survived the direct assault, but he's something else entirely.

What's really weird was how we didn't see it covered in the media at all after. Even if our school was known for some pretty crazy stuff, you'd think destruction on that scale would have caught someone's eye.

[ Or at least all the students who should have been in school and weren't. ]

Oh wow. [ So in that case, definitely reminiscent of the Church covering their tracks. After all, while the media covered some of the odd activities that were going on in Fuyuki at the time of the Holy Grail War, anything supernatural? Covered up quite cleanly.

But more importantly then that, a hand on his chest as he lets out a small sigh, ]

That's a relief. I'm glad you and everyone else made it out okay, Sasuke.

[ Sasuke drops his head a little. It had been dangerous, and that event marked the start of his horrible nightmares. He felt his body tense as he thought back to it... how Yukimura was thrown back against the wall--No, he can't focus on it. He stirred the spread with increased interest. ]

Thanks. We haven't hear anything about a season 2 the school being rebuilt or not.
